1. Wall Color
A can of paint doesn't cost much, and if you are willing to do the work yourself, you can accomplish a whole new look to the room very inexpensively.
2. The Desire for A Jetted Tub
Yes, amenities such as automated window shades and a jetted tub are "wow" points, but if you really feel you need them when you move in, you can put them in. Don't seek a home out for small details like this.
3. Old Carpets
Consider asking if you can pull back the carpet to see what's underneath. If it is a home built prior to 1970, there's a good chance that you will find beautiful wood floors underneath!
4. "Popcorn" Ceiling
With a little bit of tools and time, you can scrape these down.
5. The Exterior
You can easily paint or change out the door as well as painting the siding, so don't make the decision not to buy the home just because it is painted an ugly green color.
The things that to which you should definitely pay attention are the layout of the rooms, the neighborhood, and the conditions, covenants, and restrictions (covenants stipulating what you can and can't do on your property). These are things you can't easily change so you want to make sure you are paying attention to them.
